News From Mexico
Hello again from Mexico City, where the rainy season is just kicking in. It's been a really encouraging month from a few points of view. First of all, the girls moved house, after a few false starts and them being told they were going to move and didn't, and so far it seems to be going really well. They seem to really appreciate the opportunity to live here with a family. They're also eating better, and haven't been vomiting or feeling unwell. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for them.
We're also really enjoying getting more and more stuck in to work. The numbers of children receiving instrumental lessons from us has increased to a bit over twenty (including one deaf boy who's taking drum lessons), and we're getting more and more into the english classes we're giving. We're also starting a new session on saturdays for the kids in the local church who want to play worship. As it is, the pastor currently has to lead worship (remind you of anyone?) and it's not ideal. So we're going to focus on getting the children who are already at a certain basic standard on their instruments playing in groups. The frustrating thing is that now we're really getting into it, we're just realising that we've only got five weeks left and that it's not a very long time to do what we want to with the students of, say, individual instruments, which is to get them to a level where they might be able to carry it on themselves, or as a group without teachers. We're just starting to understand how short a time four months actually is.
These lessons combined with our daily kitchen and nursery duties mean that our schedule is now rather full, and the amount of time we have to ourselves is more limited. Please pray for us, that God might give us enough energy to throw ourselves fully into our work.
Despite this, it's been a great month for us, and we're really enjoying work. And even though Cruz Azul, our newly adopted football team, got disqualified from the league this year for drugs offences, their mortal enemies America didn't win either, so that's ok.
God Bless,
Andrew |
