 SUNDAY BLOG

dave miserableW+(D-d)] x TQ = M x NA

Now I thought that the above equation would get you thinking. Some professor has worked out that Monday 23rd January is the most depressing day of the whole year and the above is the formula he worked out to express it.
W = weather; D = debt; d = salary or income; T = time since Christmas;
Q = time since you quit i.e. broke your new year’s resolution; M = low motivation levels; NA = need for action.
So it works like this. The state of the weather added to your amount of debt less your monthly income, times the time since the warm feelings of Christmas and the time elapsed since you gave up on your new year resolution to lose weight or get regular exercise, equals how motivated you are and the need to do something about it. I hope you followed that! He calculated that the 23rd January was the day it all came rather negatively together—and you thought it was just Monday morning blues!!
May I suggest that although Christians are susceptible to all that is above, following Jesus makes an enormous difference to our lives if we choose day by day to allow Him into our lives and allow ourselves to be caught up into His life and what He is doing on the earth, through us and with us.
One thing I discovered about following Jesus when I was younger is that life was more boring without Jesus than with Him!

In Matthew ch4 v3 -10 Jesus gives an eight pointer on how to be happy. For blessed read happy!  “HAPPY are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. HAPPY are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. HAPPY are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. HAPPY are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. HAPPY are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. HAPPY are the pure in heart, for they will see God. HAPPY are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. HAPPY are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  In verse 11 it goes on to basically say that when we lay down our lives for him there is a great reward laid up for us. May February be a happy month for us all as we love, worship and honour Jesus in every situation.
